Tibberton Parish Council

Tibberton is a village in Worcestershire, England, located about 4 miles north-east of Worcester, near the M5 motorway. The Worcester and Birmingham Canal runs just north of the village, and is crossed by a Grade II listed single track bridge.

Businesses in the village include several farms, two pubs (The Bridge and Speed the Plough) a fruit and vegetable stall and a boarding kennels and cattery. There is also an industrial development (Worcester 6) at the edge of the Parish. The village also has a church and a first school.

Archaeological surveys have uncovered evidence of human presence dating back to the prehistoric period. In 2010, a survey near Pershore Lane revealed Neolithic and Bronze Age activity, including woodland clearing and timber tracks from the Late Bronze Age to Early Iron Age. A 2017 excavation at Hawthorn Rise uncovered artifacts from the prehistoric to medieval periods, suggesting a large Iron Age enclosure and connections to nearby Droitwich’s saltworks.

Historically, Tibberton was known as Tidbrichtingtone and belonged to the bishop of Worcester’s manor of Northwick, later passing to the Priory of Worcester. The village was mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086, with a population consisting of villagers, smallholders, slaves, and other workers, along with plough teams, a fishery, and a Salthouse.
